Sheep, Fiber and Yarn
One of the vintage toys we received in the mail from Immi & Ashland’s grandparents is a little sheep from the Fisher-Price Family Farm set. It’s a strange thing how knitting/crocheting has ultimately made me appreciate sheep as unique and wonderful creatures!
Here’s a close-up. I’m guessing this sheep is about 30 years old.
…And just for fun, here’s a modern sheep toy:
Granted, these two sheep appear to be of different breeds (the first one is a domestic sheep? and second one merino maybe?) its amusing to me how so different they are!
And as long as I’m posting pictures of plastic sheep, here’s some totally lovely fiber I got for spinning:

And I’m trying to make something with the yarn I finally finished spinning. I guess it’ll be a light scarf since I only have 2 ounce.

Lovely work on the handspun yarn! It looks like the new fiber you got is a batt. I’ve never spun from a batt (always get top or roving) so you’ll have to let me know what it was like.
Oddly enough, I’ve only spun from a sample size roving once and everything else has been from slightly chuncky batts since I’m primarily interested spinning weird yarn! I would imagine it’s difficult to spin uniformly from chunckily carded batts…which of course I don’t mind but I imagine smooth batts are not much different from rovings. The only question with this particular batt is depending on how I split up the fiber to spin, color pooling would be very different so I’m still thinking about it.
Yeah Shana, not just showing our age but also feeling it a bit as well. Some classic my little ponies that we found for Immi were better then the updated ones too. I wish toy producers would focus more on quality products and ideas. This yarn = beautiful.
