Best of thrifted crafty finds lately…big lot of buttons! All of this, for $2 — I have no idea how many there are!

When they are all bunched up like this, none of them look very special, but there’s actually lots of cute ones. Not that mediocre ones aren’t useful.

…Here’s some red, yellow and black ones.

My favorite ones are glass buttons, but in the end, I use plastic ones the most in crafting. I think I shall be able to find perfect buttons for most projects!

I made this bracelet (vintage key and buttons, chain and just the bar portion of a toggle clasp)…

…because Todd found for me all these keys!

Todd found and got for me a huge bag full of assorted vintage buttons! I haven’t finished sorting/washing all of them yet, but here are some of them.

…some pretty ones that I especially love.

And here are pearly ones. They are mostly plastic of sorts but some of them are glass.

And here are my favorite ones — I love glass buttons far better than diamonds!

I was just trying to put away bag of buttons from my sister which she saved (from clothes?) and sent me in December, and a some of immi’s I confiscated (ok, just so I don’t sound so mean, I let her pick some out of my stash — so it’s more like a trade!). But of course I got distracted and made a few things.

Key pendant made from vintage, new and recycled parts. The button is from my sis, which looks kind of ordinary in the photo but is actually very pretty.

Button ring made from plain silver ring I don’t seem to wear anymore and another button from my sister sewed on using a small bit of handspun yarn. I had no idea that this would work at all, but using wooley yarn got the button to stabilize on the ring very well without any glue.

…And two crochet stitch markers made from immi’s buttons (it’s pinned to my project tote). I don’t know how old these buttons are, but they look quite beat up (it’s part of the charm right??).

These were all very quick to make and got them done while immi was still playing with her buttons (putting them in and out of her toy tea set) and Ashland taking a nap.
